Famous russian surgeon operated on 14 children in Shymkent

14 young Kazakhstani patients with congenital malformations were operated on in Shymkent by renowned trauma orthopedist from Russia’s “National Medical Research Centre for Children’s Health” Pavel Zubkov. The surgeries were free for the patients as part of the Mumkindik mentoring project organized by the Corporate Fund “Zhuldyzai.” Additionally, the surgeon held a master class, during which local specialists studied innovative techniques, exchanged experiences, and enhanced their qualifications.
The surgeries were conducted at the Shymkent City Children’s Clinical Hospital. Kazakhstani surgeons learned innovative surgical techniques for treating lower limb conditions.
The mother of an 11-year-old patient shares her story:
“Sauran was born with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy at 29 weeks of pregnancy. He has a cyst in his brain, and we had been receiving neurological treatment up until now. He can walk, but he has a significant problem with how he places his feet. This is his first surgery, and I am hopeful for a positive outcome. Words cannot describe my emotions. We have been fighting for 11 years, and I believe in my child - that he will walk like everyone else. I had a dream of taking Sauran abroad for treatment because I’ve seen how children start walking after such procedures. But we were lucky to have access to a Russian specialist without leaving the country. From the bottom of my heart, I thank the Zhuldyzai Fund for the opportunity to perform this surgery here. I’m expecting only good results.”
It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2024, 87 high-tech surgeries have been performed under the Mumkindik program, and nearly 200 children have received consultations from top-tier international specialists. The project is supported by the BI Group construction holding and its employees, who cover the fees and all expenses of the invited professors.
